On Mar. 7, the OCC Gamers Club played host to the first campus challenge at 6 p.m.
Students gathered in the Solar Lounge for the reading of the rules and regulations of play; then at 7, the games began.
Two sets of gamers established two games, Halo 3 and Guitar Hero 3-"Let the games begin" was the slogan for the night.
Players lined up and peeled off one by one as they worked on besting the previous player. The fun was flowing.
Isaac Sagoe, president of the Gamers Club, said, "We started the club to try to get more activity for the students. It started as an experiment two semesters ago.
About 25 members got together to put together these games as a learning experience and to link to their major."
Gaming sessions are held from biweekly to monthly.
Meetings are used not only to discuss new games, recent releases of new versions or ideas for future tournaments, but also as time to think "outside the box" and to come up with ideas that will challenge members, newcomers and the gaming world, according to club members.
Officers for the club are Isaac Sagoe, president; George Buonano, vice president; Rob Howell, secretary; Lee Lewis, treasurer; Mike Brink, Web master, and Pete Litter, photographer.
Winner of the Guitar Hero 3 game was Daniel Nilla.
