'Superhero Movie' same old

Hollywood has created spoof movies on Star Wars, horror movies and teen flicks. It was only a matter of time, therefore, before a spoof was produced on all the superhero movies that have come across the big screen.
Superhero Movie plays heavily on the Spiderman I theme to get the audience to roar with laughter.
The plot of the movie, if there actually was one, involved Rick Riker going from local loser to local superhero after being bit by a genetically altered dragonfly. Riker eventually takes on a secret identity as a superhero who goes by the name "Dragonfly."
Of course, every superhero needs a super villain to face off against. In Dragonfly's case, that supervillain is, "Hourglass." Hourglass is really Lou Landers, the CEO of Empire Estate, who genetically altered himself to a state that he requires to touch other people and drain them of their vitality in order to maintain his. Lander plans to resolve the problem by draining the entire city of vitality simultaneously, which will make him immortal. The only thing that can stop him is Dragonfly.
This parody of Spiderman 1 has a few funny scenes and does a great job of making fun of a few big names, in particular Steve Hawkins. However, if a parody actually requires any talented actors, this Superhero movie came up empty.
Just like Scary Movie was followed by one sequel after another, it would seem Superhero Movie will have a sequel that focuses on the plot of another superhero movie. I hope this does not happen. I am tired of spoof movies that are void of any content or talent and solely focus on slapstick humor with a bunch of sexual references that are supposed to be funny. Seeing a person get hit by a truck or someone electrocuted can only be funny so many times.
My recommendation is moviegoers should not view Superhero Movie as a way of sending Hollywood the message to produce movies with content and meaning, rather than drivel.
Superhero Movie is rated PG-13 for crude and sexual content, comic violence, drug references and language.
