Vikings open baseball season with 7 wins

Play ball! The OCC baseball team has begun the season and is 7-2. The season opened with a 3-2 victory over host Mercer County College.
Second baseman Jason Gordon contributed two hits and a stolen base.
Designated hitter Carl Lofaso contributed two doubles and a run batted in.
Anthony Scorsone allowed five hits and two runs, one earned over six innings. He walked three and struck out three.
Joseph DeHart pitched three innings. He allowed one hit while walking four and striking out six.
The next day, in their home opener, the Vikings won a lopsided victory against Lehigh Community College, 24-9.
First baseman Branden Youskock had four hits in five at bats. He scored four runs and knocked in one. He also contributed a double and a triple on the afternoon.
Third baseman Philip Corde had two hits, three runs and three runs batted in.
Shortstop Anthony Mazzetta contributed two hits in five at bats. He scored three times and drove in three runs.
Catcher Peter Dacenko was four for five, including two doubles. He scored three times and drove in four runs.
Clancy Doyle, centerfielder, was three for four. He scored two runs. He also contributed a double and three runs batted in.
Scott Potter allowed four runs, three earned on seven hits over six innings. He walked one.
Craig Gourley pitched two innings. He allowed five runs on five hits and three walks.
Louis Ragozzino pitched an inning, walking one and striking out two.
Youshock tossed a complete game at Burlington County College Mar. 18. He allowed six hits and just one run while walking four and striking out four. The Vikings won, 11-1.
On Mar. 24, the Vikings won a slugfest at Camden County College. The final was 13-11.
The Vikings then dropped their only two games of the season. On Mar. 26, they lost a 21-11 decision to Suffolk County College. Two days later, OCC lost at Brookdale Community College, 8-4.
The Vikings won both ends of a doubleheader Saturday against Raritan Valley Community College, 13-3 and 10-3.
OCC is currently in third place in the Garden State Athletic Conference Region 19 standings.
